Interview with Sam Loch- Australian Olympic Rower
Ari: How are you feeling as the Games get closer? Describe your emotions
leading up to the games themselves ?
Sam: Overall I'm really excited and looking forward to racing. The
atmosphere will be great, but the competition is why we are there.
Ari: Do you feel prepared? What final stage preparations do you still
have planned?
Sam: We are prepared. All that is left is to freshen up a little and not
do anything stupid with the extra energy.
Ari:What are you most excited for in regards to this Olympics?
Sam: To race.
Ari: What is your primary goal for yourself at these Olympics?
Sam: To win an Olympic Gold Medal.
Ari: Which Olympian do you most hope to run into in the Olympic village?
Sam: My teammates on the way to the medal rostrum.
Ari: Beyond your actual competition, what else do you hope to do in
London?
Sam: I haven't eaten McDonalds since the Beijing Olympic Village (by
choice), so I'm pretty keen to have a Cheeseburger.
Ari: How many hours per day do you train? If you had to concisely
describe your training regiment throughout this past year, how would you
describe it?
Sam: I have no idea how many hours per day. It varies a bit, but between 4
and 6 most days including related activities.
Ari: And has it fully sunk yet that you have made it to the Olympics?
Sam: We haven't quite made it yet (we travel on Sunday), but yes, it has
become very real.
Email interview was conducted on July 18th. Sam is now in London.
